North America…in food!

It’s crazy to think that in less than a month I’ll be in Amsterdam with the boyfriend! And of course, there’s no better way to start my masters degree then taking a trip to a very green city, if you know what I mean…. *wink wink*

August feels like it just flew by with my trips to New York City, Boston and Montreal. Since I never get carded in Europe (do they even care over there?), it was actually pretty nice getting carded everywhere in the US (please make me 21 forever!!).

After being in Germany for so long, it’s also a nice feeling getting constantly approached by guys at every bar and club I go to. It’s like scientifically proven that you can be a group of gorgeous models and not get approached at all in a German club, so constantly having guys flirt, ask for your number, tell you how gorgeous you are, offer to buy you drinks, is actually an enjoyable experience after living in Germany for a year.

Therefore:

Dating tips for girls in North America: just stand there and look pretty.

Dating tips for girls in Germany: Strategically make eye contact with a hot German guy you meet at a party, and slowly make your way over until you’re right in front of his face and he was nowhere to go unless he talks to you. Somehow make conversation with him all night until he’s brave enough to add you on Facebook, and proceed to flirt with him everyday for a month on Facebook chat until he finally gets the message and asks you out. Wear a hot little dirndl and proceed to get him really drunk until he’s brave enough to stop starring at your boobs and kiss you.

(Just an example, not loosely based on a true story, I swear).

And because it’s so easy meeting people in North America, you have so much more free time to do other stuff! Like eating! And there’s no shortage of good (and extremely fattening) food!

And so, for the remainder of this post, I present to you some of the best foods I’ve had in the past few weeks!

First time I’ve ever heard of deep fried oreos! Soooo good but good thing we don’t have these back home or else I’d probably die from a stroke!

My first time also at White Castle! I didn’t realize how little (and how cheap!) those little burgers are! I can totally eat like 10 of them at once!

Of course when Tania came to visit Canada for the first time, we had to go to Smokes Poutinerie…

Mmmm….who can resist those cheese curds!?

There’s always a huge line up outside Schwartz’s in Montreal….but their smoked meat sandwich is definitely worth it!

It was so hard finding a good pho place in Germany….luckily they’re everywhere in Montreal!

Brooklyn ice cream! The perfect thing to go with on a nice sunny day!

I’m doing the same thing right now – eating my way through Canada while I’m visiting home for a few weeks!

Those are good pics! I moved my mouth to try to munch some of these, and hit the glass computer screen. May be you are getting into food writing as well as travel writing?

I was going to skip dinner because I thought I wasn’t hungry. After seeing this, I definitely am!! I love your comparison of dating! It can be hard to know what to do when you go to another country. That’s why I love latin America. The men are hot and if they fancy you, they tell you! Simple!
