A Midnight Bazar in Munich

One of my friends invited me to a Midnight Bazar with her on Saturday night. I’ve never been to one, but as it happens to involve loads of vintage clothing, jewellery and oddities, mixed in with live music and a bar, of course I was down to go!

The Midnight Bazar, or Nachtflohmarkt in German, is like a hip flea market which happens spontanously on different given Saturdays, in different venues across Munich. They start at 5pm and ends at midnight, and costs 3 euros to get in. There’s tons of tables and racks full of everything ranging from 1 euro scarfs, vintage purses and dresses, to random items like typewriters, marks (old German currency) and cassette tapes.

There was also food, beer and wine. The venue itself had a pretty funky vibe, right down to the disco ball… I loved it!

You could definitely spend hours getting lost within all the cool finds.

The only thing I didn’t like was that there weren’t any change rooms to try on any of the clothes. With the unexpected warm weather in Germany, I’ve been out looking for some nice pieces to add to my summer wardrobe (especially now that there’s plans for a trip to Italy in the works!)

Unfortunately, I didn’t end up buying anything for myself (this time at least!) but I did bring home a cute, devious looking furry squirrel for the bf…

Have you guys ever been to a Midnight bazar? Or something similar in your area?

Lordy, when I first read the title I thought it was Michelle getting her Midnight Bizarre On ha, ha! I’m not much of this kind of shopper though I will absolutely enjoy going with a gf date if that’s what interests her. Yep and I’m a guy and yes I really said I would enjoy it. I’ve been to these before and surprised myself at finding cool stuff. And on the cheap too! You add food and beer?? Lordy…I’m all in! Good post, Michelle! 🙂

There were lots of guys there too and they seemed to be having fun as well 🙂 The bar must’ve helped haha. There were lots of things like records, model cars, paintings etc to keep them entertained as well…I think you would’ve like it! 🙂

That’s so awesome! I love a good bazaar!
I saved this in my Munich folder, hopefully I’ll be able to catch one sometime on a visit to Munich!

Hi Michelle, what a fun night market. Combine with food, beer and wine makes it a great shopping party. I hope your boyfriend the furry squirrel:)

This looks like a fun event! We’ve browsed Hong Kong’s night market – fun too. But the drinks here probably just add to the evening’s entertainment.

Ohh I love night markets! I went to the one in Beijing and it was full of the craziest things! Like scorpions on a stick!!

This looks like one of the funnest bazar’s! I have been to a similar market in London, but it was in the afternoon.

I’ve been to a few day time ones, but this is the first I’ve been to that’s at night. Really gives it a completely different vibe!

I’ve never heard of something like this, but I love the idea! It sounds like a cross between a normal market and a spontaneous party.
