My life at the moment in photos

With a few days left of this semester, my life is pretty full with essays and final exams at the moment. Unfortunately, that means that I haven’t been able to update my blog as much as I’d like, but at the same time, I’ve still been able to squeeze in a few trips to Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Zurich, and next Monday, I’ll be leaving for Croatia for a week!

In the meantime, while I’m off to finish my enormous to do list for this week, I’ll leave you guys with some of my favourite recent photos!

Having not been back home in North America for almost a year now, it’s always refreshing to go to Frankfurt. Not many European cities have much skyscrapers, so it’s definitely a nice change!

Frankfurt apparently has the highest Asian population in Germany, so you’ll see tons of Asian restaurants everywhere. My new favourite is this Korean restaurant called Soeulfood…so tasty, healthy and fresh! If you guys are ever in Frankfurt, I would highly recommend it!

Shopping in Frankfurt is always fun since there are quite a few stores there that I can’t find, even in Munich…like Primark! There’s also tons of things happening down the large shopping streets, like impromptu break dancers!

Somewhere I used to go to all the time when I lived in Mannheim is Heidelberg. I haven’t been to the castle there in so long, so it was definitely a lot of fun when my British friend Esme came to visit!

In the Mannheim/Heidelberg area, there are also a chain of burger joints called Wittkoop, and they are so tasty! I have to admit, they’re much better than any of the expensive burger joints they have in Munich.

During exam time, one thing I like to do to de-stress is to go shopping! This isn’t really a time I would splurge on things, but rather buy lots of little stuff (the more girly the better) to take my mind off all the work I have to do. Back home, Victoria’s Secret is my go to exam time guilty pleasure, but since they don’t have any here, I’ve spent this time updating my make up collection. My favourite is this red Chanel lipstick!

And of course good old Starbucks. I have to admit, despite all the cafes they have here, nothing beats a Starbucks strawberries and cream frappucino.

I’ve actually discovered that my favourite place to watch these World Cup games are actually at the local movie theatre. Not only are they free to watch, there’s actually a pretty lively crowd, a huge screen of course with amazing sound, and at movie theatres here you can even buy beer!

Showing games on a large public screen isn’t as popular here as back home, so the only other option is to go to a bar. But if you want to watch a Germany game, you usually have to go to a bar hours in advance to get a good seat, and if you sit outside, you’ll also have to deal with all the smokers (I can’t get over why there’s so many smokers in this country!). At the theatre, you can reserve your seats early in advance, double win!!

It’s been so fun going there to watch the games that I don’t know what I’ll do when the World Cup is over!

The weather here has also been amazing in that past few weeks!
